EXPLORING THE BEACHES OF PANAMA


Lago Mar Panama

At 88.7 km from Panama City you will find Lago Mar.  The beach is 2.1 km from the Panamerican Hwy. on a rough dirt road (4X4 only).  The beach is clean but has many pebbles. It is not a comfortable beach for swimming.


Vista Mar Panama
Vista Mar is 89.9 km from Panama city.  In Vista Mar there is a Real Estate project in front of the beach with a gated security entrance.  The beach is 1.9 km from the Panamerican Hwy with an asphalt paved road.  The beach is clean and has a restaurant for tourists and visitors.

Teresita Beach Panama
Santa Teresita is 90.2 km from Panama city.  The beach is 1.5 km from the Panamerican Hwy.  on a rough dirt road (4X4 necessary).  The beach is near the Vista Mar project and it doesn’t have any services.

San Carlos Panama
San Carlos is 94.2 km from Panama city and has  restaurants, B & B, and food stores.  San Carlos has two beaches, La Ensenada, used by the fishermen, and the beach of San Carlos that is used by surfers and swimmers. La Ensenada is a dark sandy beach located 1.7 km from the Panamerican Hwy. The asphalt paved road ends and you make a left turn to go to La Ensenada. This beach is somewhat contaminated because there is a fishing community using the area.  You can buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen for as little as 50 cents a pound.If we turn right on the San Carlos road that is coming from the Panamerican Hwy. (the opposite way from La Ensenada) we will come to the beach of San Carlos on a paved road.  This beach has a beautiful view and is relatively clean.  The parking area is near the beach with good access to the sea.

El Palmar Beach Panama
El Palmar is 94.6 km from Panama city.  The dark, sandy beach. is 1.2 km from the Panamerican Hwy. on an asphalt paved road that leads to the ocean front properties and the Bay View Resort (tel. 240-9621).  There are also other restaurants, or Cabañas and the Bar & Restaurant El Cangrejo. There is some parking ($5 per car) near the beach with easy access to the sea. The sea is relatively clean and it has some good waves for surfing.  If you want to learn surfing visit Palmar Surf Camp (tel. 240-8004).

Punta Raton Beach Panama

Punta Raton Beach is 95.2 km from Panama city.  The beach is 0.8 km from the Panamerican Hwy. on a rough dirt road (4X4 necessary). The beach has a mixture of dark grey and white sand. The sea is clean. This beach is totally deserted.


Rio Mar Beach Panama
Rio Mar Beach is 95.9 km from Panama city.  The beach is 0.9 km from the Panamerican Hwy. on an asphalt paved road that leads to the ocean front properties, the cabañas and restaurant Rio Mar.  The beach has light, grey sand. There is some parking near the beach and good beach access. The sea is relatively clean. There is a $5 fee ($10 on Sat. and Sun.) for parking, the use of showers, washrooms and the maintenance of the beach.  In this beach you have the choice of swimming in the sea or the river.

Panama Beach Panama
Playa Panama is 98 km from Panama city and 1.8 km from the Panamerican Hwy. on a rough dirt road (4X4 only) that leads to the ocean front properties.  This quiet beach is clean and has nearby parking.
